New PB at Sonoma Raceway (1:55.28) ..that could have been 1:54.9x
Переглядів 27021 день тому
Welp, yet another PB affected by a slow car at the end of the lap. Lost ~0.4 seconds in T11, because I wasn't sure how slow the car was going, and didn't want to crash into their rear bumper. To add to the insult, RaceChrono failed to connect to the GPS and I failed to notice that, so as a result I don't have any CAN data from this session. [Recorded in March 2024] The Sonoma race is smooooth and at least 1.5s faster after the repave, and a joy to drive. The new surface somehow makes tires howl as they approach the limit, making it much easier to find the real limit. This is the weirdest PB that I remember. The red Lexus in front of me was holding me back starting from T7 and at that point I knew the lap was done. But I kept hopin...

Back to Laguna Seca with 86 Challenge! I had a couple laps later where I was slightly quicker, but got blocked/interfered by traffic. Oh well :) Good enough for a provisional P2 in class. Car felt great, and I had a lot of fun experimenting with lines and my technique in the later (hotter) sessions. 4th time at Buttonwillow. Had issues with traffic in the first two sessions, then only had a couple of laps in session 3 to set an "ok" lap time as the track was getting slower by the minute. A few spots were taken pretty conservatively on this lap. 0.7s off my own PB. At least the opt lap was 2:04.7. Hi Tim, really nice lap and it was great to meet you! I noticed that you and a lot of other 86DC drivers have a front BBK. Is that mostly for Laguna, or does it make a difference on other tracks too, even with SX2s?

    • @TimurIskhodzhanov
      @TimurIskhodzhanov 9 місяців тому

      There's not much difference in performance if you run quality brake pads, but if you plan to do a lot of track days it will probably be cheaper in the long run to run a BBK with larger pads and rotors. Bigger pads typically don't cost much more than OEM size, but last a lot longer. Additionally, the pistons in OEM calipers tend to get stuck over time, and require periodic rebuilds.
